Ye Liu
Ye Liu is a PhD candidate in sociology at the New School for Social Research, New York. He has a background in anthropology (Sun Yat-sen University, B.A.), sociology (London School of Economics, M.A.) and architecture (Certificate). As an interdisciplinary researcher, Ye Liu has awide interest in architecture, technology, geogrpahy, decolonialization, the Third World, Cold War/global sixties, socialist modernity, etc.
His dissertation project is devoted to a theoretical reconstruction of socialism’s historical position in de/post-colonial politics by reviewing China’s climate-responsive architectural design and building practice in African tropical areas during the 1960s-70s. Ye Liu’s projects have been supported by programs including Andrew W. Mellon Integrative PhD Fellowship.
